Garret Shikuma Rio Animation Reel
It is always great to find out the animator behind some of my favorite scenes. ("Rio" had some AMAZING work and I am completely blown away that it did NOT receive an Oscar nomination.) Some of these scenes in this reel are just amazing! I really loved the scenes at the end where Linda is dancing around. I remembering seeing those and being blown away. It almost looked rotoscoped but it was just too good to be rotoscoped.

Borge Ring - Anna & Bella
Years ago I first came across this short film in a collection of Oscar winning and nominated shorts. There are several that have become my favorite and have watched them many times over and over. But this one always brings a smile and a tear to my face. Such a beautiful story of the lives of two sisters sharing many of life's precious moments.
Just recently the 91 year old director Borge Ring lost his house in a devastating fire in south-east Holland. He and his wife Joanika made it out unharmed but they lost everything, including the Oscar he won for this very short in 1985.
You can read more of the story here on Cartoon Brew.

Art of Disney/Pixar's "Brave"
Don't get me wrong, I believe there are some CG animated films out there that are just visually amazing. But what I really love to see is all the artwork that went into making the film. There are tons and tons of inspirational sketches and paintings that go into crafting such a beautiful film. For instance, the artwork displayed at marker 1:50. These characters have such a look and feel to them that is so great! It's artwork like this that makes me wish to see the entire film done in this style. That is why I have so many "art of" books in my collection. And the "art of" book for Brave will most definitely be added to my collection.
Wreck-it Ralph (2012)
Disney has released some concept art from their latest film Wreck-it Ralph. It is slated for November 2012 and stars John C. Reilly, Jane Lynch, Jack McBrayer and Sarah Silverman. It is directed by Rich Moore (The Simpsons, The Critic and Futurama).

HOLD DA PHONE!!
On January 26, 2012, Motorola released an update to an already awesome phone:
The main difference between this and the standard Razr is the battery life. The MAXX has a longer battery life and is slightly thicker. The standard Razr is .28" thick and the MAXX is .35" and about .62 oz heavier and twice the battery capacity. The bigger battery also slims out the camera hump on the back. It also makes it easier to handle. Total talk time is 17 hours on a full charge. Motorola claims 21 hours. This is better than the standard Razr at 10 hours of talk time. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is about 6 hours. For regular standard mixed usage you can go about three days before having to charge it up.
And on an animation note: I really want the wallpaper he has on this phone!!!
